Frequently Asked Questions
You’re about to hire a skip. Fun? Maybe not. Confusing? Possibly. Either way, we’ve collected all the usual questions you might have—skip sizes, what you can chuck in there, and how not to accidentally hire a skip the size of your house. Check out the FAQ, and then skip to the good part: getting rid of all that stuff.
Still confused? Then get in touch. We promise we’ll make it easier than finding matching socks on laundry day.
How much does it cost to hire a skip?
The price of skip hire depends on a few things, but the main factor is your location (as skip hire pricing varies by postcode), the size of the skip you need and the type of waste you’re disposing of (additional costs will apply for specialist waste disposal). The cost includes the hire of the skip and recycling the waste inside it. We’ll be able to give you an exact price if you enter your postcode.

Do I need a permit for my skip?
If you’re placing the skip on your driveway or other private property, no permit is needed. However, if it’s going on the road, you’ll need to get a permit from your local council. The largest skip typically allowed on public roads is an 8-yard skip, which is great for most household projects!
Do I need to be home when my skip is delivered?
No need to wait around! Just let us know where you want the skip to be dropped off, make sure the area is ready, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your property has limited access or the area for the skip is a bit tight, please consider being available at the time of delivery. Let us know in advance so our team is prepared.
How long can I keep the skip?
You can keep the skip for as long as you need it, but most people hire skips for anywhere from a day to two weeks. If you need it longer, just let us know!
What skip sizes do you offer?
At GoSkip, we have skips ranging from 2 to 16 yards. Check out our size guide to find the perfect fit for your job!
Where do you deliver?

When will my skip be delivered?
Skip deliveries take place between 7am and 6pm unless a specific time slot has been confirmed in advance. Once you’ve booked, we’ll send a confirmation email with all the details and a contact if you have any further questions.
Delivery usually takes around 10 to 30 minutes, depending on your location and access.
We always aim to meet preferred timings, but please keep in mind that we can’t guarantee a specific slot. If you need the skip early in the day, it’s a good idea to book it for the day before.
